Description
WHEN
The First Friday evening of each month, rain or shine, year-round. Hours: 5 to 9 p.m.
WHERE
Most galleries can be found between Front and Third, and Market and Vine Streets.
THE EXPERIENCE
Want proof of Philadelphia’s happening art scene? Come down to Old City for First Fridays. On the first Friday evening of every month the streets fill with art lovers of all kinds who wander among the neighborhood’s 40-plus galleries, most of them open from 5 until 9 p.m.
A casual atmosphere encourages art and people watching, eating at Old City’s many restaurants and just plain mingling. There’s diversity both in the crowd and among the galleries, adding flavor to the experience. Most galleries can be found between Front and Third, and Market and Vine Streets.
HISTORY
Started in 1991 by a group of galleries as a collaborative open house evening, First Fridays grew quickly into one of Philly’s most vital, signature cultural events. Old City’s historic commercial buildings have fostered a SoHo-like cultural ambience with the densest network of galleries in the city.
Some of the arts organizations you can visit on First Fridays include the Clay Studio; the Temple Gallery; the cooperative galleries Nexus, Highwire, Muse and Third Street Gallery; and collaborative Space 1026.
GALLERY INFORMATION
To learn what galleries are having receptions on a given month, you’ll want to check out the special First Friday page on PhillyFunGuide.
Also be sure to check out the First Saturday activities as well.
INSIDER TIP
Bird Park, a pocket park on Third Street just below Arch, features changing installations by sculptors invited by nearby Gallery Joe. View, converse, relax – it’s free.
And after you hit the galleries, don’t miss out on the superb dining and nightlife that Old City has to offer. The neighborhood is filled with great restaurants, bars, lounges and cafes — Amada, Buddakan, Red Sky, Radicchio, Farmicia, Continental, Fork and Cuba Libre are but a few of the great spots at which to enjoy dinner, drinks, good company and more.

What do you do when your cell phone falls in water!!??!!?
whatever you do immediately take your phone battery out. the reason why our phones stop working after its in the water is because you try to turn it on again without letting it dry and the battery shorts the phone. now u have to be patient this si the ONLY WAY. u have to put ur phone in a bag of rice..i know this sounds crazy but the rice sucks up all the moisture..leave it there for 2-3 days...WITHOUT turning the phone off..that is crucial. and then try to leave it on something warm like a tv...i did this and i turned my blackberry on and it works PERFECT. i swear it was even sitting in water for over 30 secs. GOOD LUCK..
and whatever you do..DO NOT CHECK TO SEE IF IT WORKS...wait at least 2.5 full days. good luck

Organizing your life the balance between time and life.
I believe that each of us must periodically review how we manage our time. As we near the end of this year I hope these tips below will help you better manage your time and life.
Plan Ahead: Before you end your day think of all the items you will need to take with you the next day (client files, referrals for doctors, tickets to pick up cleaning).
List Goals: Create a list of both professional and personal goals to help you focus your time and energy on things that matter the most to you.
Use technology to manage your time: Utilize the benefits of a Smart Phone or PDA to help you manage your time by allowing you to have immediate access to your schedule which will prevent you from overbooking yourself.
Review schedule regularly: To ensure that you are balancing your time and life review your schedule weekly to help you stay on track of your professional and personal goals.
Plan time for fun: As you plan your week make sure to plan time for fun (movies, dinner with friends, roller skating) to live a balanced life.

Jasmine Tea Granita with Lavendar Honey and Spearmint
Jasmine Tea Granita
with Lavendar Honey and Spearmint
Headhouse Farmers' Market shopper Alexis Siemons submitted this refreshing recipe, perfect for the last warm days of the summer season. Look for spearmint and honey at your Food Trust farmers' market; jasmine pearls are available for purchase like loose tea at many of the city's tea shops.
Serves 2.
5 cups water
4 teaspoons lavender honey
7 teaspoons jasmine pearls
2 handfuls spearmint leaves
Fill a tea kettle with cool water and heat it on the stove until the water begins to steam from the spout. Place 7 teaspoons of jasmine pearls into the teapot's infuser. Pour 5 cups steaming water over the jasmine pearls and steep in the teapot for 3 minutes.
Remove infuser from the teapot. Add 4 teaspoons lavender honey to the tea and stir to combine. Add a handful whole spearmint leaves. Let the flavors mesh as the temperature cools, about 5 minutes.
Pour the cooled tea into two ice cube trays and place in the freezer. Sip the remaining tea (about two cups), while the granita mixture freezes.
When the liquid has frozen, remove the ice cube trays from the freezer and let them thaw for a few minutes. Blend the ice cubes to a shaved ice consistency, scoop the icy goodness into two bowls and pop them back into the freezer for 1 minute. While the granita chills, finely chop remaining spearmint leaves. Before serving the granita, drizzle with honey and sprinkle chopped spearmint leaves atop the granita to add a burst of vibrant sweetness.
Wegman's Recipe Bowtie Pasta with Vodka Blush Sauce & Chicken
I happen to love the grocery store, but if you do not have a Wegman's in your area the good thing is you can pick up other ingredients to make the recipe for example, the sauce can be picked up at any of the local stores, the chicken, can be replaced with Purdue Herbed chicken or just use regular chicken breasts, the basting oil can be olive oil. very easy meal.
